‘Looking for Nothing’ is a moving piece that, through creative use of a variety of mediums, captures feelings of nostalgia, longing and a search for meaning.
The film utilizes a range of art-forms; from scans of seashells and diary entries to super8 and iphone footage. The film ties all the formats together in a fascinating, poetic and narratively effective way.
It is also worth mentioning the effectiveness of the soundscape and editing that allows for a narrative structure and pace that keeps the viewer drawn into from start to finish.
Overall, the work successfully allows the viewer to immerse themselves into layers of artforms combined with a mysterious, fascinating and deeply personal narrative; tying it all together poetically.
