Forest Fresh
12 Little Trees Air Fresheners, paracord.
Forest Fresh is an installation of 12 Little Trees Air Fresheners hung from the ceiling using paracord, creating a small forest. The name comes from the one type of Little Trees Air Freshener which was unavailable to buy anywhere at the time of making, “Forest Fresh” in Green, which is the most realistic depiction of a tree to come out of the brand’s line of products.

Structuralist film which is both the recording of an act in real time and the presented film. A video of me, sunbathing in southern Turkey plays on a small screen, inviting the viewer to come closer due to its size. The shortening of the distance between the viewer and the installation amplifies the cooling effect of the wind generated by the fan, recalling the opposite of the intense warmth experienced in the video. Kind of like a reverse Tantalus. Or not.
The viewer can position themselves in relation to this situation: Looking at someone sweating whilst being cooled off or longing for warmth whilst feeling chilly?
* In Greek Mythology, Tantalus's punishment was to stand in a pool of water beneath a fruit tree. Whenever he reached for the fruit, the branches raised beyond his grasp. Whenever he bent down to drink, the water receded before him. Forever deprived of nourishment.
